The Garden (Part III)

Got a little bit of soul
Got a little bit of rock’n'roll in my bones
Don’t you bury me when I’m old
I’m-a need ‘em when I’m reborn
When I’m reborn

The garden that you planted’s doing well
I thought you’d like to know
A hound dog growin’ on the hound dog’s bones
It reminds me of the time I met you long ago

And said “Darlin’ let’s let our hair grow long
We can work on a farm maybe live on a mountain
I got an old hound dog that likes to run
He needs a lot of room and he hates to be chained up

He’s just like me, just like we are supposed to be
Just like me, just like we are supposed to be
Just like me, just like we are supposed to be
Just like me, just like we are supposed to be

The mountain’s sinking and the river’s rising
And the sky is falling and I fear I’m dying
The forest is creeping and I cannot stop it
I don’t want to try now I can’t remember how
I used to dream about the valley highways
That’s before I was chained to the country by-way
And you left me, let freedom tear us apart, tear us apart

And we’re singing “Darlin’ let’s let our hair grow long
We can work on a farm maybe live on a mountain
I got an old hound dog that likes to run
He needs a lot of room and he hates to be chained up

He’s just like me, just like we are supposed to be
Just like me, just like we are supposed to be
Just like me, just like we are supposed to be
Just like me, just like we are supposed to be

“When I play with the band Tea Leaf Green, we have a song that’s called Garden Part One, and Garden Part Two. But then on the sly I wrote a song called Garden Part Three and I never told them about it. This is probably the first time they’re hearing it. I think they’re here tonight.” - Trevor 1-14-04

  5. Andy Gadiel Says:

rare, never performed live, secret third verse:

I think i’m crazy all alone and burned out
I was young before played pictures on the floor
I’ll be there again, I’ll be traveling, to say these words to you.

    darlin let’s let our hair…

  6. moonshinefunk Says:

I’m pretty sure its the roses are growing on the hound dogs bounds not a hound dog is growing on the hound dogs bones

Also I believe for the first time during the april steve tour 2008 and every now and then they have down a kind of acapella chorus at the end. During that steve tour they also changed the key this song was in.

  7. Beags0045 Says:

yeah, throw a capo on the first fret and your home.
