Rattlin’
I’ve been shot for trespassing
Down in New Orleans
Tangled up I’ve been undone
I been uncovered and outrun
Rattlin’ on the wind
Looking for that whispered ship
That we’ve been
Following for a season
I’m rattlin’ on the wind
I was born free, I was born proud
My head in the clouds and
My feet on the ground
I been caught in a spider’s web
By casting nets in ladies’ beds
And I’m rattlin’
I’m on the wind
Looking for that whispered ship
That’ve we’ve been
Following for a season
I’m rattlin’ on the wind
I have seen the kudzu
How it covers up the south
It’s covering my eyes
And it’s coming out my mouth
And I feel like I’m feelin’ when the trees withstand the flood
I’m careful where I’m walking
Don’t wanna step in mud
The hitch-hiker was leading me
To the sweet water at the mountain’s feet
And that forest porchlight slapped my eye
The door swung wide as a night-owl cried
And hitchhiker just cursed his word
And disappeared just as I heard
A bombshell blast that split the night
It took me down and blew my mind
I was rattlin
I was on the wind
I’m looking for that whispered ship
That i’ve been followin’ for a season
I’m rattlin’
I’m on the wind

Rattlin’ is one of the most-requested songs (and one which has not been played a lot recently)!
On the chorus, we’re not 100% on the description of the ship. It sounds more like ‘whispered ship’ to our ears, but “Whisper Ship” is a common term in sailing, see:

Here’s another one I hear just a little bit differently:
I been caught in a spider’s web
By castanets and ladies’ beds (?)
I can’t tell – sounds like it could really go either way.
