Long Way to Texas

It’s a long way from here to Texas
Why’d you want to run away from here?
We come from California
They won’t take your Driver’s license
You scream
They don’t like us

Let’s go to Reno
Before the solstice
My cousin’s got a farm
And I’m from there
I hear the state’s building a prison next door
And they won’t find much more.

Don’t depend on them for nothing
They don’t know where it ends or begins
If you’re true, relax
We’ll get through these hard times fine

Do the clouds appear more real?
Than the roads your riding on
Does the fence that traveling with you on each side
Reach up to the sky?

So you’re bringing home a paycheck
To the girl you met in school
Are you thinking bout having children
Or what you’ve got to lose

Don’t depend on them for nothing
They don’t know where it ends of begins
If you’re true, relax
We’ll get through these hard times fine.

Used to play the guitar
Sing a song from time to time
Did you think that you’d get far?
Did you think that you’d leave it behind?

Don’t depend on them for nothing,
They don’t know where it ends or begins
If you’re true, relax
We’ll get through these hard times fine

Don’t depend on them for nothing,
They don’t know where it ends or begins,
If you’re true, relax
We’ll get through these hard time fine.

  1. muck Says:

alternate title: Don’t Depend on Them

  2. Minister of Propaganda Says:

This is one of those songs that really needs to work it’s way into the rotation. It reminds me in a sense of a dead type Comes A Time… Really can just blow up a setlist in my opinion.

  3. sjc Says:

    “If you’re true, relax
We’ll get through these hard times fine”
    Love that line!

  4. Justin Says:

    You scream
    They don’t like us

it is not that, it is

    It’s clear
    They don’t like us

Also, this whole verse is messed up:

    Let’s go to Reno
    Before the solstice
    My cousin’s got a farm
    And I’m from there
I hear the state’s building a prison next door
And they won’t find much more.

    It is:
    Let’s go to Reno
    Before it snows there
    My cousin’s got a farm
    An Hour away
I hear the state’s building a prison right next door
And they wont farm there much more

(See how he mentioned his cousins farm prior) makes much more sense
