Jackson Hole
I’m afraid
I’m afraid
All alone
She’s dug my grave
In my legs
with them all bowed
All the way
To hell below
Yes I’m dyin
the doctors say
in less
than 300 days
And she warms
From the cold
By his body
Jackson hole
And she warms
From the cold
By his body
Jackson hole
My youngest daughter
name was Annie
now she calls
calls him Pappy
And in church
sits at my pew
tills the land
with my old mule
With my wife
he makes love
calls her a whore
on his way to get drunk
And she warms
From the cold
By his body
Jackson hole
And she warms
From the cold
By his body
Jackson hole
Yes I’m dying
this I know
but my heart
died long ago
With my legs
Walk over them hills
Through endless miles
This is my final thrill
And to hell
Lord knows I’ll go
Gonna take him with me
to hell below
And she warms
From the cold
By his body
Jackson hole
And she warms
From the cold
By his body
Jackson hole
By his body Jackson Hole

Note that the town is often called “Jackson Hole” but it is really Jackson, Wyoming. Jackson Hole is actually the whole valley of west-central Wyoming.
Historically, the name “hole” derives from language used by early trappers or mountain men, who entered the valley from the north and east and had to descend along relatively steep slopes, giving the feeling of entering a hole. The low valleys surrounded by mountains are criss-crossed by streams, the habitat of beaver and other fur-bearing animals.
