Drink Of Streams
Drink of streams from hidden sources
Blindly ride the star streaked heavens
Breath in deep and risk your fortunes
Judge the darkness
Seek the ill winded backbone masses
Their eyes are blazing with broadcasted static
And their jaws are snapping
They got hungry stomachs and they’re fixing for their latest habits
So dust the sun-stroked silver highway
Carve the mountains with your shadow
Your rubber souls and your wooden heels
Are melted black and they’ve been fire-straddled
Your (you?) travelers heat (heed?) the village windows
Steer the weary-legged plains / lanes
Sounding sirens sing survival / misfortune
Stinging song, stir their chains
And wonder what, why contain it
Steals my mind and belies(?) my hands
Circles tolled / told rumination
Yes, we’ll stretch for stars and promised lands
We’ll stretch for stars and promise lands
So if you’re thirsty you can drink from me
My toes are tapped to endless springs like rooted trees and jealousies for salty seas of which they dream
So test your eyes by meteors
Speak with thoughts of mountain cores
Walk the edge of an ocean shore
I’m sure there’s more than this
So test your eyes by meteors
Think with thoughts of mountain cores
Walk the edge of an ocean shore
I’m sure there’s more than this
Yeah I’m sure there’s more than this

So far, only played with the band twice by Coffee Bean Brown (acoustic TLG in 2002 and 2003), and once by Trevor solo during the TLG show at Haymaker 5-8-2004… Trevor has played Drink Of Streams a few times in his rare solo appearances, including a soaring version at Wakarusa 6-11-2006.

This is definately one of Trevor’s most profound songs and shows off both his inspired songwriting abilities and creativity on the keyboard.
Verses like:
So dust the sun-stroked silver highway
Carve the mountains with your shadow
Your rubber souls and your wooden heels
Are melted black and they’ve been fire-straddled
The version from the unreleased 1/12/04 solo Elbo Room performance is quite stunning.

i have heard some variations of this
so if you thirsty you can drink from me
my toes are tapped to endless springs like rooted trees WITH jealousies
for salty seas of which they DRINK. I think sometimes he says with which they DREAM as well, both make sense. I love analyzing this song. I am working on the middle part as well.
