Deep River (2)
(This is the second rare variation of Deep River)
I landed here alone
born a starshine eons old
with a child’s mind to mold
and a country-side to roam
and I pondered on the plans
of my very own spacecraft
and station on the moon
Cuz I knew I’d be there soon
But soon I realized
that this world around my eyes
and the outer planet that stood
just outside my neighborhood
is a world of wasted wonder
Mindless madmen forced to blunder
and broadcasted introspection with a limitless reflection
In a deep river and I’m dying for a drink
And I just may wait forever for that boat I’m in to sink
Or the house that I am living in to be consumed by flames
Or better yet, a hurricane, you turn my weather vane
I got the walking blues
Cuz I stole this pair of shoes
As I walk the avenue
I ain’t got a thing to lose
So I’ll rest beneath a tree
And I’ll gather up my dreams
And I’ll stitch the fraying seams of my second-hand bluejeans
Yes your traffic roars an ocean
And the sidewalk stumbles broken
And your pockets jingle tokens of dead presidents invoking (a-joking)
Yeah, the poor are made of steel
And the railroad reveals that sweet child on the wheel steers
The engine starts to squeel
And it’s a deep river, and I’m dying for a drink
And I just may wait forever for that boat I’m in to sink
Or the house that I am living in to be consumed by flames
Or better yet, a hurricane, you turn my weather vane
Oh yeah you turn my weather vain, yeah you turn my weather vane
The river flowing fast and flooding makes us whole again
Deep river, and I’m dying for a drink
Yeah, I just might wait forever for that boat I’m in to sink
Or the house I am living in to be consumed by flames
Or better yet, a hurricane, you turn my weather vane
Oh yeah you turn my weather vain, yeah you turn my weather vane
The river flowing fast and flooding can make us whole again
Oh yeah, alright, and on and on I saw
Angel in the orchestra, and we’re playing songs that none of us have heard before
And if you feel strong, why don’t you come and lend a hand
Well, it’s not too hard to understand, cuz afterall we’re all in it together
I’m a child, and I’m old on an ocean-going vessel
and if the sky falls we all need to seek shelter, yeah we’re all in it together afterall
We’re all in it together afterall
We’re all in it together afterall
We’re all in it together, we’re all in it together
Afterall, we’re all in it together
I’m a child and I’m old on an ocean going vessel
and if the sky falls we’d all need to seek shelter
We’re all in it together afterall, we’re all in it together afterall
